White villages, world-famous trails and cultural cities are within easy reach.
Walk 7.7 kilometres along boardwalks attached to the walls of the El Chorro gorge. Book well ahead and wear sturdy shoes.
The trail runs one way from north to south and ends at El Chorro, where a shuttle bus takes you back to the start. Tickets are sold per time slot and sell out quickly in high season; a helmet is provided on site. Children must be at least 8 years old. Allow about 3 to 4 hours including the walk to the entrance.
Explore whitewashed lanes, the rock chapel and Muralla gardens, with sweeping views across the coast.
Park in the car park at the edge of the village and walk to Plaza de la Virgen de la Peña with its chapel carved into the rock. Continue to the Muralla gardens for views out to sea, visit the small bullring and finish with tapas on one of the squares. Bus M-122 runs from Fuengirola to the village.
Play Los Lagos or Los Olivos, two distinctive Mijas Golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Mijas Golf is practically next door to the apartment. Los Lagos is flatter and more open with plenty of water, while Los Olivos is shorter but more technical with olive trees and elevation changes. Book your tee time in advance, especially in spring and autumn. Buggies, clubs and the driving range are available on site.
